Checklist

Website planning checklist

A one-page list of everything to gather before you ask someone to build your website.

Work through this list before you send a brief. Anything you cannot answer yet is a question worth asking on the first call.

About your business

  • Full business name, exactly as it should appear
  • One sentence describing what you sell
  • Who your typical customer is
  • What makes you the right choice for them
  • Contact details you are happy to publish

Pages

  • A list of the pages you want, in the order a visitor should see them
  • The one action you want a visitor to take
  • Whether you will show prices, and how
  • Whether you already have examples of your work to show
  • Anything you had on an old site that must not be lost

Material

  • A logo in a file you can send
  • Photos of your work, your team or your premises
  • Any writing you already have, even rough notes
  • Brand colours or fonts, if you have them
  • A note of anything still missing

Decisions

  • Who approves the design
  • Who else needs to be consulted
  • When you would like the site to be live
  • Who will update the site after launch

Send this list with your enquiry so the first reply can be useful.
